Pancreatico-pleural Fistula in a Child

Abstract

This report concerns a 12 year-old female with recurrent pleural effusions, thought initially to be caused by tuberculosis or malignancy, but proved later to be due to pancreaticopleural fistula. Initial managements wee repeated thoracentesis and
thoracotomy tube drainage without permanent effects. Conservative treatment directed to pancreatitis was effeective after pancreaticopleural fistula was confirmed with chemical analysis of pleural fluid and imaging studies.
